In creating a logo icon design for a client, we often explore the use of symbols and images. As we listen to our clients tell the story of their product, we visualize what symbol or picture would best describe who they are. We think about the obvious ideas, and the not-so-obvious.
A picture is worth a thousand words
In logo icon design, sometimes an symbol can quickly communicate who you are to your potential customer. Yet, at other times, an icon can be a symbol of your beliefs and company structure.
While discussing this with client, Jac Gendelman of blackwalnut, scene fabricators in Rockland County, NY, Jac explained that the logo icon design we created for his company, a tree-icon, was the perfect way to depict the personality of his brand. He explained that his company has many branches and arms, like the tree, and extends in many directions. So, the tree icon was very appropriate.
He further explained how the name of their company, “blackwalnut” was based on an actual tree in his backyard. Now, using a tree icon married the name to the logo design in an excellent way.
You can also claim a color for your logo icon design that will stand out and be memorable to your customer. We took advantage of the orange color that was part of our client’s brand equity.
Blackwalnut’s “orange tree” can be seen all over their offices in very creative ways! They really took the design and ran with it!
