There is a definite reason why small business owners need to be blogging. It would be much easier if the tape recorder in my head would just transmit all the thoughts, ideas and such onto a word document for me to edit and compile into neatly assigned blogs for my readers…do you think that technology is in the works somewhere?  If so, sign me up!

I find blogging to be one of the most necessary evils (?) in my weekly routine.  Sorry to my loyal fans, wherever you are.  It’s the actual “sitting down” and doing It that is so difficult.  But do it, I must…for the simple sake of SEO.  And, you must also.

Blog content is the way to allow your audience into your world.  It allows you to share your expertise on the subjects you know best.

People Have Questions

People arrive at their screens with a question in mind, for example… “Which font should I use for my poster?”, or “What spices go well with steak and onions”, or “Is it okay to give my dog raw meat?”  When this happens, if you have written a blog on that subject matter, guess what? Yes, your content will show up in their search and they will be heading over to your website for the answer to their burning question.  This might take some time…But, it is that simple.

I only find it painful because I do not love to write…I like to write, but not love.  SO when it comes to sharing my graphic design expertise, it takes a good deal of energy for me to sit-my-butt-down and start writing.  But when I do, I find that many people benefit, because I can offer insights and mentoring in an area they might know little about…and so can you.

The Results Are In

I have found that in the few years that I have been blogging regularly, my company has risen to the top of the search engine for exactly what we do.  I attribute that to a regular stream of valuable content coming out of my head, onto a word doc.

SO, blog on, and watch your followers increase!  If you have any tricks you use to get those blogs out of your head, won’t you share them in the comments?
