At 3 years old, Jon & Jeremy Perrelle “helped” their dad build their family home.  Although the young boys probably did more harm than good, a passion for hard work, creativity and fine craftsmanship was born during those early years.  Their story is told on the back cover of their print design brochure for their new product. The Perrelle Family for Letter Lamps

The boys spent many hours in dad’s shop designing and building with dad’s tools.  Now, 25 years later, grown and with tools of their own, the young men have joined with their father to design and manufacture Letter Lamps, custom crafted decorative lamps, personalized with your initials or icons.

Moderate Success Will Not Cut It

Our client had moderate success selling his Letter Lamps on etsy.com when they decided to hire a professional graphic designer to help out with their product’s print design and branding needs.

It was their intent to sell their lamps in boutique stores as well as Pottery Barn or Craft & Barrel type retail stores.  They contacted Hudson Valley Graphic Design for our design services and our creativity in coming up with compelling print design.  After chatting briefly on the phone, we decided to meet over a cup of coffee at a diner in Yorktown Heights.

Jon and his dad, Neal told us their story and of their desire to brand their Letter Lamps and have a print design brand program consisting of a logo design and a brochure design.

We discussed the benefits of logo development.  We told them that creating a uniquely branded look & feel for Letter Lamps would help increase sales and get them into the stores they want to sell to.

Credentialed Print Design or “Leave-Behinds”

We helped them understand that to approach an establishment like Pottery Barn, you need to look credentialed.  You need to look like a legitimate business with a legitimate product, not amateurish.  You need a professional looking logo design and brochure “leave-behind” for your potential buyers.

Custom Made Letter LampsTop Quality

When Joe and I saw the actual lamps, we were really impressed.  The top quality craftsmanship was immediately evident. The colors and choice of lampshade patterns were impressive.

Hudson Valley Graphic Design created several creative designs for Jon and his family to choose from.  They chose a logo design that was upbeat and playful, inviting their customer to “take me home with you”.

Print Design for Letter LampThe logo graphics has a free-hand quickly drawn style and uses purple and blue, as it’s main color scheme, which pops out against the white of the overall print design.

We designed a simple half-fold brochure that clearly presented Letter Lamps product line in an attractive, streamlined style.  The lamps were photographed on white, and then re-touched to sit freshly on a stark white background.

We also created a quality seal with the name Perrelle Designs Ltd, to communicate top quality craftsmanship.  The seal appears on all of the print design materials.Print Design Quality Seal

Jon recently emailed us stating “Things have been going well – we’ve gotten into about ten stores, and we’ve been doing much better with our online sales, so we’ve been focusing more on that.  We love the logo and feel it’s definitely helped with our sales!
