I’ve been a graphic designer for most of my life. But lately, I’ve taken an abrupt shift. I decided to dive into the social media craze several years ago. I am stunned at the enormity of it. It’s like I had been on another planet for the past decade!
Do you press “like” first or “share”? Do you PIN IT first and then press “like” or do you comment and then “share” or “like” that person…and where will it show up? What if I make a mistake and press the “like” button when I really didn’t mean to; can I take that “like” back? The whole darn thing is overwhelming..if you let it be. But don’t let it be!
I love how Rob Russo explains it in his post, “Social Media Secrets: Learn Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest and LinkedIn Tips from the Experts” http://bit.ly/WSdLT4 Take advantage of the simple graphic design opportunities to brand yourself or your business that all the social platforms give you. Don’t miss out on any one of them. Upload some images to your twitter background, design a unique Facebook cover photo, etc.
Whatever your motive for dabbling in social media, be it social or business, my advice is to embrace it at your own pace, because it isn’t going away anytime soon. The secret is you don’t really need someone to design your graphics, bus it sure doesn’t hurt!
Take it as an opportunity to express yourself to the world. And, for goodness sake have fun!
