I’ve read it all.  What time is best to post on Facebook and Twitter? What kind of content should your blog contain? What percentage of your posts should be text and how many pictures should you include?  You can follow any of a zillion rabbit trails on social media best practices.  There are so many out there it will make you dizzy.

Time Consuming

Social.Media_marketingI’ve heard clients say more than once that they “have no time” for social media or, “where do you find the time”?  It’s like anything else from exercise to spending time with a good friend..you have to fit it in and make time. Once you get into the groove..and are having fun with it..it gets easier.

Engage

Social media is just that, social media.   It is an opportunity to engage with your customer and the general public.  So please, be yourself. Just engage like you would naturally. Get yourself into a routine where you have 2 or 3 main platforms (mine are Facebook, Twitter, and Linked In and Google+ and Pinterest) and spend a small portion of your day engaging, reading, laughing with the world who happens to be sitting in front of their computers or ipads or smartphones just like you.

Your social platforms are an opportunity to show “the real you”, a place where your business can let down it’s guard, be a bit more human and show your ideal customer your real-self, who you are behind the scenes.

It’s all a big GAME, and I actually think its kind of fun, there I said it.  If you would like to discuss how to use social media to grow your business, give us a shout (914) 582-9353.
