How does a well known local establishment re-create their image and change their customer’s perception?  Is it possible to go from being known and recognized as one thing, to being perceived as another.  We say “yes”, and here’s how.

Get to Know Your New Target

You have to know the target audience you are trying to reach.  If you would like to attract a broader customer base, you must understand those newly desired demographic.  Do the research to find out where they hang out, what they are listening to and what kind of social media platforms they are engaging with.

Look the Part

We recently worked with Mike Smith, owner of Eyes of Nanuet in Rockland County, NY.   His family owned business was previously called Spring Valley Optical and was doing well, but not as well as he had hoped.  Mike wanted to attract a younger, more fashion-forward audience.

It’s something all of us see on a daily basis, but don’t put much thought into the “why’s”. We always admire good-looking, well-designed storefront signs, but we never think about the branding aspect that goes into putting a sign up on a storefront. Why would we? Here’s a few pointers on why storefront signs are in & what YOU can take into consideration when deciding to change your old school sign.

We’re in the age where consumers are expecting you to dazzle them with your creativity.  We now overlook the traditional blue and red oval “open” sign in a store’s window. We are looking for a logo and a brand to pop out at us, grab our attention and make us say, “Hey, I have to check that place out on Facebook!” It’s pertinent to maintain branding on the outside of your store for recognition and continuity!

Here’s why you need your sign to pop.

Aesthetically Pleasing: More people are accustomed to looking at digital screens, whether it be a cell phone, iPad, or laptop. Now, to us, other signs look bland and dull! This revolutionary world of technology is expanding so tremendously that something as simple as a storefront sign is now completely overlooked since it’s not “hip” or up to date. It’s a sign (pun intended!) of new change! Your clients/customers need something that is aesthetically pleasing, and something that stands out. Not to mention something to remember you by: your brand!

Branding & Consistency: If your company has a brand (we’re more than happy to help if you don’t!) it needs to be uniform across all aspects. Storefront signage included! But how do you maintain branding without proper signage?  That is why we insist that your Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, etc., pages utilize the same uniform branded logo.  This helps people recognize your business and find you, developing trust along the way!

Get Visibility: What is the ideal placement for your sign to attract your audience? Does your logo work best on the front of the store, and on something street-level?  Whatever the answer is, your brand on your storefront sign can expand your customer base in a way that traditional non-branded signage can’t anymore.
